Upcoming Volunteer Work ....

THIS SATURDAY!!!!!! 8/16/08 - 8am until about 3:30pm

Voulnteers are needed to paint the small hall at SFDS.

We are just painting the walls we can reach from the floor. The higher stuff will be done by professionals.

The walls will be prepared and drop clothes will be spread out.

If you have a teenage child who wants to help or needs community service hours - invite them!

I know it's short notice but the school needs to be completed ASAP as the school year begins shortly.

I'll be sending a calling post as well.

PLEASE give a few hours if you can!

Due to the short time frame, I am asking you to RESPOND if you CAN make it.

Finally, looks like we have a very good candidate to help out this year.  I know 
Spring is almost over but it took a little longer this year to get the right 
candidate. 
  
Since the place is very small it will require two days to accomplish the 
makeover.   
  
Therefore, I will be looking for volunteers Saturday 6/19 and Saturday 6/26.  
The difference is Saturday 6/19 will be all demo and cleanup to get the place 
ready for the "Handy" Graybeards to come in the following Saturday 6/26
and "MAKE IT NICE!" 
  
The place is a small bungalow located at 345A Beach 87 St.  It had a bad fire 
and the inside was "totaled".  Some friends have been trying to get it restored 
but it's just too much for a couple of guys to get it done any time soon.   This 
is where we can come in a truly help change someone's life for the better. 
  
SO......... 
  
If you feel you fall in the "Demo/Cleanup" category and don't mind getting a 
little dirty, Saturday 6/19 is your day to show your stuff. 
  
If you have more skills than the average Graybeard (Carpentry, Plumbing, 
Electrical, Gardening, Painting, Door/Lock/Window Installation) then the following 
Saturday 6/26 is your day to strut your stuff. 
  
In order to organize this two-day event, I will need you to tell me which day 
you will be able to show up and lend a hand.  PLEASE RESPOND!! 
  
Saturday June 21, 2008  7:30am to 5pm          You don't need to be there all 
day - anytime you can give is appreciated! 
  
Saturday June 28, 2008 7:30am to ?????  Again - You don't need to be there all 
day - anytime you can give is appreciated!

Listed below is a description of various events the Graybeards are responsible for providing

volunteers for. Please look over the events and choose one (or more) to help with. Respond

July 1, 2008 8:00AM Beach Clean Up RPYC

Need: 10 people to assist Tom McDonald with various duties to prepare the beach

at RPYC for the upcoming WSF. Please bring your own rakes and shovels.

Date: ASAP Housing Inspection Various locations

MEO to provide list of homes.

Need: 4 people to physically go to homes and checkout the accommodations. This is to ensure we place the correct soldier in the correct type of housing. Person should log accommodations, (ie, basement w/many stairs, pullout bed, sleeps two, etc), and give to MEO.

Wednesday, July 9 Host Family Signage Host Famlies

Need: 4 people to place signs in front lawn of homes. MEO to provide list of families. Also, drop off in mailbox information regarding event.

Fri, July 11-Sun, July 13 (4PM) Boat Assist Floyd Bennet Marina

Need: 4 people to assist pulling out the boats used for waterskiing. Assist with wiping down and

securing on land. Sunday time AM only.

Date: TBD Plaques Various businesses

Need: Pick up and deliver plaques to sponsors of the WSF.

Sat, July 12 Bartenders, etc S. O. Fundraiser

Need: 20 people in shifts to setup, bartend, breakdown event. Mike Lee is heading this effort for GB’s.

Sun, July 13 (1PM) Breakdown Equipment RPYC

Need:8 people to breakdown scuba tank, etc.
